About Donny Kinson

I was born and raised here in Dallas Texas, and throughout my life I have managed to travel to just about every region of the country and I always managed to make it back to Dallas because it was home. When I was a boy around 7-8 my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in both breast. She had radical mastectomies of both breasts and the underlying muscles. She is alive and well today proving that this can be beaten.

I grew up pretty normally. Mom and dad split when I was young, and around 13 I went to live with my father, He grew to be not only my hero but happily my best friend up until his death. When I was younger I toured the country with a rock band working lights and sound, and spent a while after that touring the country doing art shows. I have always had the soul of a gypsy artist and never really cared for roots.

But as we age, roots become inevitable and after dad passed, I stopped the touring around and sprouted some. I ended up working in a hotel of all places, I figured I had lived in them for 15 years I pretty much knew how they ran. I started as an auditor and eventually took over as GM of the chain. During this time I upgraded the front desks to a computer system, as these new fangled boxes seemed to be catching on. I had never even sat at a computer before. Well they showed up at the hotel and dropped it off and handed me the software and said “there ya go” leaving me to sit and figure out how to hook this all up, install the software, and then configure it so I could run a million dollar a year location on it, having never even sat in front of one before. I found, I had a natural knack for it, I am not saying I didn’t struggle doing it, I did, but I did it, on my own, and in only 2 days. From that, I went out and bought my own computer. This would later be seen as the demise of my hotel career.

I finally had enough of 80 hour work weeks and dealing with the ordeal of a hotel.. People rent hotel rooms to do things they would not do in thier own houses, I have see the evidence and have the stories haha. I took a month off and decided what I was going to do next was going to be with computers. I ended up through a myriad of different jobs working tech support for various different applications, internet providers and software manufacturers.

When I last worked I was working from home, for a software reseller in California, providing support to their end users via phone. I had to stop when My cancer came back. The fight is on!!
